Rebuilding Homes and Lives

with Fire Resistant Resilient Design

Resilient

Fire resistant homes engineered with exterior materials and resilient design features that resist wildfire and other natural disasters.

This home was built after wildfire had destroyed a portion of the property.  Fire resistive materials include metal siding and roofs along with accents of Shou Sugi ban siding – also fire resistant and made from reclaimed wood harvested onsite from the forestry restoration efforts.
Other resilient design strategies included landscaping with fire mitigation strategies and habitat restoration through the integration of a pocket prairie.

Sustainable

Sustainably designed using eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient systems, and precision manufacturing processes that reduce waste, helping to lower carbon emissions and combat climate change while creating healthier, more resilient living environments for future generations.

Rebuilding Lives with Prefab Construction: A Faster Path to Recovery

At Aura Dwellings and Hospitality™, we understand the devastating impact natural disasters have on individuals, families, and communities. With the increasing frequency and intensity of such events due to climate change, we feel an even greater urgency to provide solutions that are not only resilient but also sustainable. Our prefab construction and fire resistant homes help those affected rebuild quickly and efficiently, restoring both homes and hope. By offering faster, durable, and eco-friendly resilient design solutions for disaster recovery, Aura is committed to supporting communities in their time of need.

Rebuilding Fire Resistant Homes through Resilient Design After Wildfires

Wildfires leave behind more than just burned structures—they leave families searching for a way to start over. Traditional rebuilding methods can take years, compounding the hardship for those affected. Prefab construction offers a faster, more reliable solution:

  • Rapid Rebuilding: Factory-built homes can be completed in a fraction of the time required for traditional construction, so families can return home sooner.
  • Fire-Resistant Materials: We use materials designed to withstand high temperatures and resist fire, providing greater peace of mind for the future.
  • Personalized Designs: Our homes are customizable, ensuring that families can rebuild spaces that feel like their own while meeting their specific needs.
  • Wildland Urban Interface: Our meet California’s requirements for Wildland Urban Interface.

For wildfire survivors, prefab construction delivers a lifeline, helping restore a sense of stability and security.

Meeting Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Requirements

As climate change drives increasingly intense wildfires, designing homes that can withstand these natural disasters has become more critical than ever. At Aura Dwellings and Hospitality™, we prioritize safety, durability, and sustainability in every project. A key element of this approach is ensuring our homes meet or exceed Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) requirements, a set of building codes and strategies designed to protect structures located in wildfire-prone areas.  Learn more at FEMA and review the California Code

Here’s how we design and build our homes to comply with WUI standards while maintaining a modern aesthetic and environmental responsibility.

What Are WUI Requirements?

WUI regulations are a set of fire safety guidelines reducing the risk of wildfires damaging homes and communities. These codes focus on using fire-resistant materials, implementing defensible space, and constructing homes in a way that minimizes vulnerabilities to ember intrusion and radiant heat.

How Our Homes Meet and Exceed WUI Requirements

1. Fire-Resistant Exterior Materials

  • Siding:
Our homes utilize non-combustible siding options like metal panels and cementitious siding made with recovered materials such as fly ash. These materials resist ignition even under extreme heat and prevent the spread of flames.

  • Roofing:
Roofing is a critical component in wildfire resilience. We use standing seam metal roofs and TPO membranes in fire-rated assemblies. These materials are non-combustible and provide robust protection against falling embers.

2. Defensible Space

Our homes include defensible space, reducing the risk of wildfires spreading to the structure:

  • Clearing brush and vegetation:
We work with homeowners to ensure proper clearing of flammable vegetation and thinning of trees around the home. This creates a defensible perimeter that makes the home easier to protect during a fire.

  • Deck and other on-site elements contribute to these strategies

3. Fire-Rated Building Assemblies

  • Fire resistant Sheathing:
We add a layer of fire-rated sheathing to the exterior walls, creating a barrier that protects the home from embers and radiant heat.

  • Tempered Glass Windows:
Windows feature tempered glass, which is more resistant to breakage under high heat compared to standard glass.

  • Fire Suppression Systems:
Many of our homes feature interior fire sprinklers, offering an extra layer of protection in case embers breach the exterior defenses.

4. Non-Combustible Landscaping

The areas immediately surrounding our homes utlilize gravel, stone, or other non-combustible materials, to remove potential fire fuel near the structure. This approach prevents flames from reaching the home and minimizes risk during a wildfire.

Prefab Construction Advantages for WUI Compliance

Our prefabricated homes are built in controlled environments, ensuring precise assembly and tighter construction tolerances. This reduces gaps or vulnerabilities where embers could infiltrate, making our homes inherently more fire-resistant than many traditionally built structures.

Sustainability and Resilience in Harmony

At Aura Dwellings, we believe that fire safety doesn’t mean sacrificing sustainability or design. Features in WUI-compliant homes  balance resilience, environmental responsibility, and modern aesthetics. From fire-resistant materials to innovative landscaping, we create homes that are safe for families while supporting the health of our planet.
